Universal Prekindergarten Open House

The Ballston Area Community Center (BACC) will be having a Universal Prekindergarten open house on January 15th from 6:30-7:30pm. This is for parents only to meet the teachers and tour the facility at 20 Malta Avenue. The New York State Universal Prekindergarten Program (UPK) provides an early learning experience to children the year before a child attends kindergarten. The primary purpose is to provide four year old students with an opportunity to access high quality prekindergarten programs that will provide the foundation to help prepare them for future school success. Eligible families are those who live in our District and have children who will be four years old on or before December 1st, 2020.

BACC gets a new sign thanks to Eagle Scout!

eagle scout helps with new bacc sign

Ballston Spa Eagle Scout, Michael Hosek, gets new sign for BACC My name is Michael Hosek and I am in 11th grade in Ballston Spa High School as well as a Life Scout in Troop 1 in Ballston Spa. I recently finished my Eagle Scout project, which was to install the new BACC sign and construct the stone wall around it, and am currently in the process of achieving my Eagle Scout rank. I began my career in Scouting in 1st grade as a Tiger Cub with Pack 1. From Pack 1, I crossed over in 5th grade to Troop 1 where I have held many leadership positions such as Historian, Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, and currently Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. Scouting has given me the opportunity to participate in many community service projects, as well as camping, hiking, and learning skills that I will utilize for the rest of my life. Last summer, I attended the 2013 National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia along with 40,000 other Scouts and Scouters from around the world. For the past three summers, I have worked at Camp Boyhaven, a Cub Scout camp, and look forward to working there again this summer. In school, I am actively involved in Science Olympiads, debate club, and the school newspaper. Outside of school, I participate in events with Rotary and have completed the RYLA program through them. I’m currently involved in the college-search process. My academic interests lie in Atmospheric Science and Writing. I plan to attend a competitive 4-year college and then continuing my education with an advanced degree. [sliderpro id=”1″] Special thanks to Sign Perfect and Saratoga Masonry Supply
